An Open Letter to the Honourable Mr. Derek Wyatt MP

Dear Mr. Wyatt:
I’m an American screenwriter/journalist and a member of AFROMET. I also previously served as an intelligence specialist in Ethiopia/Eritrea during the 70s, and was in fact present when Haile Selassie was deposed in the 1974 coup. During my time in this very ancient part of the world, I had the fascinating occasion to meet with some holy men in the Ethiopian Coptic church, whose cryptic remarks to me are only just now beginning to make sense, oddly enough. I’m a bit slow on the uptake, I suppose, having gotten roughed up a bit above the shoulders during the goings on there, and have only recently begun taking very helpful medicines. So, we can attribute my insights to that for now. I’m writing a screenplay about my experiences there, which will be in competitions in the U.S. this summer.
What I’d like to convey is this: Being very impressed and appreciative of the efforts you have made on behalf of the Ethiopian people for the return of their national treasures and archive, I’d like to engage you in a dialogue — questions perhaps submitted by email for my projects — on the subterfuge which appears to have been going on with Ethiopia, frankly, and Europe since the 12th century, when the Prester John saga of tall tales began. I suppose you could say that they were the equivalent in their day of the Harry Potter books. What I have discovered in my revisiting of some notes and memories is that there is a connection between the Prester John subterfuge and the Kebra Negast, which has gone unfulfilled, and ended with the deposing of Selassie, who was believed to have been a Messiah. I’m of the mind that subterfuge all ‘round, incorporates the Queen of Sheba from Abyssinia and a woman alleged to have been the lover of Jesus who hailed from Magdala. The long and short of it is, I believe the reason the treasures, tabots, especially, are not being returned, is because they would identify just what Ethiopia used to be. Or still is, which is the location of a famous garden, if you follow my drift. One of the casualties of this subterfuge effort has been the obscuring of the apostle John Mark, whom I believe wrote the Gospel of John, as well as Mark’s Gospel and the book of Revelation, and 1 and 2 Peter, and perhaps more. These obscuring efforts are racially motivated, and are intended to keep Ethiopians and Copts from knowing just who they were and are — and what is significant biblical about Magdala and the adjacent region. I’ll give you a hint, if you don’t follow me: Lake Tana in Ethiopia is the source of the Nile, despite the paradoxical droughts and chaos which exist in that part of the world. If you would like to read my screenplay, WHO PUT ALL THOSE THINGS IN YOUR HEAD? I would be honored. If you wish to comment on anything regarding this, or possibly discuss the idea of assisting in getting this film project off the ground, I would be most appreciative. These are very exciting times. But there are dark things afoot, and the truth will make all the difference. There is a reason why Ethiopia may never see her treasures and archive again, as in destruction. I did want you to be aware.
