The portrait is a caricature of an African male, with pronounced ruby-red lips which suggest the blackface makeup of the minstrel era. ”It’s not good,” says Holy Cross professor of religious studies Matthew Schmalz, who has written about the crest for the Catholic magazine Commonweal. Whoever it is, the Pope has himself chosen to let the symbol serve as an expression of his commitment to the growth of Catholicism in Africa.

‘For me, [the African king] is an expression of the universality of the Church,” the then-Cardinal Ratzinger wrote in his 1998 book Milestones: Memoirs 1927-1977. But the Pope also wrote that he did not know where the African image came from, though it was prominently featured on his coat of arms when he was archbishop of Munich-Freising. Unofficially, the Vatican has said the image is meant to rally worshipers in Africa, conceding that the African king appeared on the original crest of Benedict XVI when he was a Bishop.

“I do not know its meaning,” the Pope wrote in his memoirs as a Bishop. “The church knows no distinctions of race or class since all are one in Christ.”

‘It probably strikes people as being really odd,” Schmalz says. ”They look at it and think, ‘What is going on here?’ “

Mario Valdes, a researcher for WGBH’s ”Frontline,” strongly believes the black king can be one of only two people: Balthazar, one of the three kings from the ”Orient,” who brings myrrh to the newborn baby Jesus, or Prester John, the mythological king of the ”three Indias,” or, alternatively, Ethiopia. Prester John is a legendary monarch-priest who possessed supernatural powers in ruling over an Eden-like paradise. Though explorers looked for Prester John for three centuries beginning in the medieval period, he and his kingdom were never found.

Pope Alexander III is said to have written a letter to Prester John in 1177, although the Catholic Encyclopedia casts doubt on this event.

But there are two other possible identities for the unknown Moor. He could be St. Maurice, a Roman commander from Africa whose Christian soldiers refused to sacrifice to the pagan gods after an important victory, and were themselves massacred. (Valdes discounts this, noting that Maurice is usually depicted wearing a centurion’s helmet.) And there is a more grisly possibility. At the time of the Crusades, some Christian kings displayed a severed Moor’s head on their flags or crests to symbolize victories over their Islamic enemies. It is conceivable that the king evolved from such an image, if one takes into account the ragged neck, the color of which matches the red lips.

‘It’s certainly one of the possibilities,” Schmalz says.

As for us, the image only further suggests to us that Jesus may have been black, if not an Ethiopian like Adam was, as genetic science and the migration of the first homo sapiens sapiens from Ethiopia — with all races originating from one man — have suggested. Admittedly, this is a stretch, but coupled with the mystery of the Black Virgin and Child (see post below) whom the Knights Templar believed to be the Virgin Mary and Jesus (based on thousands of statuettes brought back from the Holy Land), this image is arguably an important one — though no one knows what it means.

According to the website of the Pope’s former Archdiocese: “The shield, which is divided into three sections, displays the ‘Moor of Freising.’ The Moor’s head, facing left and typically crowned, appeared on the coat of arms of the old principality of Freising as early as 1316, during the reign of the Bishop of Freising, Prince Konrad III, and it remained almost unchanged until the ‘secularization’ of the Church’s estates in that region in 1802-1803. Ever since that time the archbishops of Munich and Freising have included the Caput Aethiopum, the head of an Ethiopian, in their episcopal coat of arms.”

This explanation, in our view, is inadequate. Why did the Bishop of Freising Prince Konrad III choose to display Caput Aethhipum, “the Moor of Freising,” an Ethiopian king, on the coat of arms or shield of the archdiocese? We intend to dig a little deeper to find out. It’s notable that upon the “secularization of the church’s estates” in Munch and Freising in 1802 that the Moor of Freising reportedly did not appear on the coat of arms of the archdiocese. If the Moor of Freising then has some religious significance … who is the Moor of Freising and who might he represent: One of the Magi, a black Saint, St. Mauritius, St. Zeno, St. Sigismund, St. Corbinian, as have been suggested? Prester John? Or King Solomon … or perhaps Jesus?

In their zeal to dredge up an ancient controversy about Jesus and Mary Magdalene which has no basis in fact, Dan Brown and company failed to address in The Da Vinci Code a legitimate mystery involving the Knights Templar, the Merovingian dynasty and the Priory of Sion and the form of the Black Virgin or Madonna, which plausibly puts Jesus in a much more revealing light. The mystery of the Black Virgin and the impetus behind a devoted cult of the Black Virgin persist, at the center of which we find not surprisingly Mary Magdalene — the poster child for nearly two millennia of disingenuous efforts to recast Jesus as just another man.

The Knights Templar and what they believed was in their possession when they returned from the Holy Land with the first statues of the Black Virgin could have solved a bona fide mystery involving Jesus and who he was, if Brown and his team of editors and writers had bothered to look.

The Black Virgin in Europe may even shed light on the presence of the woman presumed to be Mary Magdalene in Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, which, as we have heretofore suggested, appears to be a repainted or vandalized work, given the presence of an apparently disembodied hand grasping a dagger behind the back of Judas. Not insignificantly, the mysterious floating hand is in the vicinity of the demure woman beside Peter who looks relatively out of place among the group of disciples in an uproar.

The origins of the cult of the Black Virgin in Europe grew out of the placement of nearly 500 statues of the black madonna (and sometimes child, also black) in European churches, the majority of which — some 100 — are in France. But before this placement the Knights Templar brought back from the crusades in the Holy Land a cache of thousands of Black Virgin statuettes, which eventually made its way into the hands of the Priory of Sion. This secret society operating in the village of Rennes le Chateau received the cache of “treasures” along with other “relics” with mischief on their minds. Among these other relics were the alleged robe of Jesus, alleged pieces of the cross upon which Jesus was crucified and the alleged bones of a resurrected Jesus.

To the Priory of Sion, according to Barbara Aho, the “treasures of Rennes le Chateau” would be used to discredit the deity of Jesus, which is arguably relevant to understanding the pervasive mystery of the Black Virgin and child — and perhaps much more regarding how Jesus was portrayed in medieval times and the Renaissance. Many legends falsely attribute the origins of the “miraculous” Black Madonna statues to the 12th century Merovingians, which Aho says “raises disquieting religio-political questions.”

Milton William Cooper in his book Behold A Pale Horse, along with the authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln all claim that “the treasure of Rennes le Chateau,” the French village where the Prieure of Sion deposited the Templars’ Grail cache, was to be used for “the undoing of Christianity,” according to Aho, author of The Merovingian Dynasty: Satanic Bloodline of the Antichrist and False Prophet.

“The Prieure obviously planned to produce, i.e. manufacture, relics which would disprove the divinity of Jesus. A French website maintains that this is the famed secret of Rennes le Chateau,” writes Aho.

Could it be that the mystery of the Black Virgin stemming from the discrediting and misrepresentation of Jesus in European society had in the beginning — and has now — a racial component?

Ralls points out that at the time that the Black Virgin forms began to emerge in churches throughout Europe in the 11th century there was no confusion as to who the Black Virgin and child represented, at least not in the minds of the crusaders. The Knights Templar, who were responsible for the building of thousands of churches in Europe, knew, Ralls tells us, that the statues represented the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, whom they solely venerated. Though efforts have been made over the centuries to identify the Black Virgin with Mary Magdalene, the mother goddess Isis and her child Horus, and the goddess of Virgo, the strictly devoted Templars were in no way disposed to identify the forms with anyone other than the mother of Jesus. Their intentions for the Black Virgin would clearly have resembled the reasons for which the statuettes had been created in the Holy Land and throughout Africa. The Gnostic traditions which elevated Mary Magdalene and the mother goddesses Isis and Virgo at the time were strictly limited to Alexandria, Egypt, where these traditions originated.

The mystery of the Black Virgin and child then is not so mysterious after all, if we know the origins of the first statuettes in Europe and the nefarious purposes for which the Priory of Sion in Rennes le Chateau intended to use them. Did the Priory of Sion aggressively launch the mystery of the Black Virgin, which the Merovingian kings in maintaining their claims to be descendants of the union of Jesus and Mary Magdalene were inclined to advance? If the Virgin Mary and child were in fact black, which is suggested to us by their creation in Jerusalem, those Europeans who have claimed to be of the lineage of Jesus have a problem, they being white. Presumably, the Merovingians would have recognized this. Not only would the blackness of Jesus refute The Da Vinci Code’s fictionalized claims about Jesus and Mary Magdalene and their bloodline but we have a new way of looking at The Last Supper, imagining how it may once have appeared as we note that the patron of The Last Supper, the Duke of Milan Ludovico Sforza, nicknamed “the Moor,” happened, by Leonardo’s own confession, to have been black, “as black as the duke’s justice.” (White)

The Last Supper was completed by Leonardo in 1498, one year before the French sacked Ludovico and overtook Milan — who may have followed the prescription of the Priory of Sion to discredit and misrepresent Jesus, something which Ludovico the Moor may have himself striven not to do.

There is no mystery if we consider from whence came the first statuettes of the Black Virgin — from Jerusalem and not Alexandria — and that the crusading knights believed they had representative forms of the mother of Jesus and the Christ child in their possession when they returned. Further, there is no legitimate mystery surrounding the Black Virgin, which also appears in numerous paintings in Europe, if we know that there was the intent by a secret society to subvert what the Knights Templar were in effect telling their fellow Europeans when they brought back the statuettes and a new way of thinking about Jesus and his mother.

The mystery and confusion continues today, but with who advancing it?

Worshipers are convinced that the Black Virgin forms represent Mary Magdalene — but we have racially relevant reasons to ask why. Was Mary Magdalene black, an ancient exotic goddess in her own right? There is a place in Ethiopia which was once called Magdala, the name of a mountain fortress where Ethiopia stored its treasures and national archives (before it was looted by the British in 1688 at Queen Victoria’s behest), but was Magala in Ethiopia known to the writers of the Gospels? Could Mary Magdalene and her family have made their way from Ethiopia to Galilee or Jerusalem, which makes her identification as the Magdalene, a black woman, seem more feasible, though it is an odd name? It remains a mystery where Mary Magdalene hailed from, if she truly ever existed, and there are theories which suggest that she did not, based on the widely varying events involving her from Gospel to Gospel. We wonder why Mary Magdalene would have ever been suggested by anyone to be a black woman unless Jesus himself was once known to be black. In any event, the Knights Templar did not believe they were returning from the crusades with statuettes of Mary Magdalene, Isis, or the mother goddess of Virgo, if Aho is correct.

This apparent confirmation that Jesus may have in fact been black — whether the Virgin Mary was or not — and that the Priory of Sion and perhaps Alexandrian Gnostics engaged in intentionally disseminating misinformation regarding the statuettes adds credence to our hypothesis that Jesus’ racial identity may have been covered up beginning with the Crusades, along with the identity of the Beloved Disciple, Jesus’ best friend and the writer of the Gospel of John and perhaps Revelation, whom we have suggested was black by virtue of his birth in Cyrene, what we know today as Libya. To this day the identity of Jesus’ most beloved disciple — who arguably was not one of the twelve — is undetermined, though we’re told by a Coptic biography that his name was probably John Mark (the writer of the Gospel of Mark) and that he was an African scholar, born in Cyrene, as was Simon, who was rudely “enlisted” (as a black man?) to help Jesus carry his cross.

If Jesus was black, as the claims regarding the Knights Templars’ cache of statues suggests, it becomes easier for us to make the case that John Mark, a black African, was the mysterious Beloved Disciple … which brings us once more to The Last Supper.

The Last Supper depicts the precise scene in the gospels of John and Mark (significantly in these two books so named) in which the unidentified Beloved Disciple asks Jesus who it will be who will betray Jesus, at Peter’s urging. In the painting we see Peter nudging a woman, gesturing to her in a way that suggests he is whispering. But we know from scripture that this person whom Peter is urging to ask Jesus about his betrayal was not a woman, but the Beloved Disciple, “the one whom Jesus loved,” whom we’re told in John 20:2 was a man. He was also presumably a man named John, as the testimony of early church father Irenaeus tells us. Interestingly, if the person to whom Peter is speaking in the painting is a woman … then there are only eleven male disciples, and the one who is missing is the disciple John. There were two Johns — John the son of Zebedee, who was one of the twelve, and a thirteenth disciple, John Mark, who was younger than the other disciples. They may both have one time appeared in The Last Supper on Ludovico’s instruction. The largely unknown fact that the patron of The Last Supper was black, according to White, the fact that there is a disembodied hand in the painting which suggests repainting or vandalism, and the absence in the painting of the disciple John — and perhaps two men named John — suggest to us that just as the Priory of Sion sought to misrepresent the Black Virgin statuettes so might someone have repainted The Last Supper, perhaps a Frenchmen, to obscure the fact that in the painting Jesus may once have been depicted as black, as might John Mark have been. We can imagine the black patron of The Last Supper requesting of Leonardo a depiction which at least Ludovico believed would be a more accurate one.

A central question arises: Why would any secret society have ever wished to obscure the racial identity of Jesus and his mother, if this is what has happened? Could it be because the Merovingian kings, who are alleged also to be descended from the Anunnaki, an alien race of mankind’s “creators,” have been instructed by their masters to obscure Jesus’ racial identity so that a white impostor might one day rise to power as the Antichrist? This seems an outrageous explanation, but Aho’s claim that the Antichrist and the false prophet will arise from the Merovingian line causes us to think twice.

Many secret societies are Luciferian in nature –- they worship Lucifer, the “Morning Star,” something the lower level members know nothing about, or think is just a conspiracy theory or an urban legend. This is so controversy that these societies keep it hidden from their members on the most part. The main reason for this is because Luciferian means something entirely different to these people than it does to a Christian. Prominent Masonic writers, such as Manley P. Hall and Albert Pike, have clearly indicated that they have a Luciferian doctrine, and naturally, Christians believe they are Satanic. The Bible tells them so. But what does Luciferian mean?

The truth is that these Luciferian secret societies are what we call gnostic in nature, and they have this firm belief that Lucifer was the Bringer of Light (knowledge) while YHWH tried to keep homo sapiens in the dark — in ignorance. Therefore, Lucifer is good and YHWH is evil. They also refer to YHWH in the Old Testament as the “evil one”, or BAAL, and point out that the Bible clearly describes a jealous, violent and judgmental God, someone you should fear. According to their beliefs, the Bible has been severely tampered with by the corrupted part of the Priesthood, who turned everything around to make YHWH the good and righteous one and Lucifer the evil one. The purpose with that has been to hide the truth from the people and create conflicts through organized religion. Christians often defend YHWH’s violent behavior and mass murder as being justified — the victims of his fury deserved it.

Freemasonry, for example, is a very old secret society, which started out as something that was meant to be positive and enlightening, and Pharaoh Akhnaten (ca 1351-1334 BC) was one of their Grand Masters as well as the leading High Priest from the Merovingian era of the Priesthood of Amen as mentioned earlier in this chapter. Freemasonry under its current name is a fairly new organization, but it existed long before that under different names. With time, Freemasonry was infiltrated by the negative Priesthood. Still today, the Order is very infiltrated, and it’s hard for someone who is looking for original enlightening material in there, to find it. This will all be clearer as we move on. We will also explain exactly in Chapter X who the “Illuminati” really are, who the Merovingians are and much, much more.

The outer circle of the Priesthood of Amen is called “Lucifer’s Web” and the business organization around it “The Supriem Network”. Lucifer’s Web consists mainly of members from wealthy families and are consciously working for a One World Government, where Supriem’s version of it will be called the Allied Union. Supriem’s task is now to have the “negative” and “positive” Priesthoods and secret societies to follow him on his mission to clean up the mess after Marduk Ra (Supriem himself in his earlier incarnation) and prepare for a new, better world before Nibiru returns, supposedly around 2012. This is, according to all camps, a crucial event, as it also signals the return of the “Gods”, the Anunnaki from old Sumer. We will cover this extensively as well in Chapter X and elsewhere in this book.

Supriem’s task is a huge one, because there are of course different sections within the Power Structure with strong leaders who all want things to happen their way. So even if Supriem is who he says he is, it doesn’t mean that all the 13 bloodlines will automatically follow him and accept him as their leader. He needs to use all the means he has to be able to unite all those fractions. It sounds impossible and complicated, and it would be for most, but as we shall see, he has help from different powerful secret societies and even alien forces to complete his task, and one major (and crucial) step on the way was to activate his Tripe Helix 49 Strand DNA in 1997, making him much more powerful than any regular human. So in a way Supriem is an experiment by secret societies behind the scenes who want unity and a certain outcome. But before we go into all these details, we need to cover a lot of material.

Another secret society which belongs to Lucifer’s Web is the one we’ve mentioned a few times already, the Thule Gesellschaft, which is also the Order that activated his Triple Helix DNA. One mid-level member has put up his own website which has been representing the Priesthood and Lucifer’s Web, and you can read about some of the occult sides of the Order on his site. It is mainly in German but has English parts too. I have corresponded with the owner of this particular web page and received some information from him that is not commonly known to the public, but not strictly confidential either – it just hasn’t been advertised to the public until now. They want this information out “for those who are ready to receive it”. This mid-level member has connections with the Inner Core of Thule, and therefore he has been able to give me a lot of valuable information, which will show. I have had the privilege to communicate with a person from the Inner Core of Thule as well, directly and indirectly.

What Thule wants, according to members I have communicated with, is a united world, free from the Zionist control which we live under today. So their plan is to support Supriem on his mission to unite the 13 bloodlines and instead of maintaining the status quo, which is negative control of mankind, they support a One World Government ruled by a benevolent leader, which is Supriem. But like one Thule member said, there are no guarantees that this mission will succeed due to many unknown factors. One of them being that Supriem may change sides in the middle of the process and start working for the dark side again, because he has “free will”.

People may protest here and ask we we would even consider wanting the current Power Elite to unite with Supriem and be our “benevolent rulers” in the near future. Firstly, they would not be accepted by people when the entire world population will understand what evil they have done, and secondly, at a first glance it doesn’t even seem doable. But there is a reason this has to be done and it is all connected with the Anunnaki, returning to Earth. The Power Elite has two choices — either they conform to Supriem’s vision, or they will be led to slaughter by the incoming Anunnaki. This will be explained in great details in Chapter X.

The Focus of the Mystery of the Black Madonna Has Always Been on Mary. But What About The Child?As early as the second century AD there was speculation, and written “speculation” at that, that Jesus was not the sinless, decent and chaste man that the writers of the four Gospels had portrayed him to be. Three Gnostic gospels in the Nag Hammadi Library — ascribed to Philip, Thomas and Mary Magdalene — which scholars believe were written between the middle of the second and third centuries, tell us or suggest to us that Mary Magdalene, perhaps a native of Magdala, which is found in Ethiopia, was Jesus’ indiscrete lover if not his wife. The bum rap, whether it is true or not, has endured, no more significantly than in Europe.

This is the same Europe out of which we’re told that so many secret occult societies apparently opposed to orthodox Christianity (and Zionism) and the teachings of Jesus have arisen. What might the Europeans who keep secrets and meet behind closed doors know about Jesus that the rest of us might not know, which should cause so many of them to look for alternative and bizarre variations on the Christian theme? The answer might be in the Templar Knights’ cultic worship of the Black Madonna … and child. Or the vandalized painting by Leonardo da Vinci The Last Supper, an event which was held in the home of John Mark and his mother Mary, both reportedly African refugees.

Solomon, the son of David and an Ethiopian woman Bathsheba, and the mysterious Queen of Sheba (no relation) are curiously also important figures for secret societies, notably the Freemasons. What do the Freemasons know about Solomon, arguably a forerunner of Jesus, and the “mythical” Queen of Sheba that the rest of us might not know — and what might they wish to keep quiet? We’re told that Hiram Abiff was killed by three Ethiopians. We’re also told that the Templars were fascinated and near obsessed with finding Prester John, who was believed to be a mystical Ethiopian priest-king who ruled an Edenesque kingdom.

What is it with secret societies and black people? Which is an especially good question when two additional things are considered: black people have their own segregated division of Freemasonry, called Prince Hall Masonry, and the Freemasons and Jesuits are credited by some with giving birth to the Ku Klux Klan, which Mason Albert Pike exalted, being himself arguably a racist.

What might Rome and the Vatican know about Jesus that the rest of us might not know … which should have caused so much talk of the Catholic church abandoning Jesus for occult practices and beliefs, evidenced by the history and oaths of the Jesuits, whom some have called Counter-Reformation terrorists for the Roman church?

Could any of this have anything to do with the scientific view that Adam was an Ethiopian and a DNA superman (and perhaps Jesus’ half-brother, if not a legitimate forerunner), as Abraham might have been? (This question presumes that Jesus’ racial identity has been obscured to dilute creationism and the miraculous virgin birth and resurrection of Jesus; that is, if Jesus can be tied to an African Adam, both having the same biological father, then the miracles of creation, the virgin birth and resurrection, which validate one another, can be better proved.) Could any obscuring efforts have been employed to hide the fact that Jesus’ best friend (Beloved Disciple) — and therefore the writer of the Gospel of John, Revelation and the Johannine epistles — may very arguably have been an African scholar John Mark from Cyrene, what we know today as Libya — who would in turn help to identify Jesus racially?

There has been a lot of scholarly speculation about the meaning of the Black Madonna, the mystery surrounding her, and why there are as many as 450 statues as well as paintings of a black Virgin Mary throughout Europe. But almost no one ever speculates about the fact that often the Black Madonna is holding a black child. Some say that in these cases what we are seeing when we see a Black Madonna and child are really a black Isis and her child Horus. But in 450 Christian churches in Europe?

Is there something funny going on which gives secret societies the nerve and the boldness to turn away from Jesus to embrace ancient (Luciferian) mysteries? Who would choose Lucifer over Jesus … and why?

It further bears noting that the Ark of the Covenant might be in Christian Ethiopia (in Axum), that the first Hebrews are believed by some to have come from Africa, perhaps evidenced by the Falasha Jews or Beta Israel of Ethiopia, and that the only other person besides Jesus who has ever been called the Lion of Judah, the king of kings and the lord of lords is the deposed Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie, as per the Rastafarians. It is also noteworthy that Moses was an African and that there were black Pharaohs, though this information appears to have been obscured, evidenced by the destruction of the noses and lips of many Egyptian statues, including the Sphinx.

And does it strike you as odd that Barack Hussein Obama once jokingly said that despite the views of some that he was not born in a manger?

To Tiberius Caesar:

A young man appeared in Galilee preaching with humble unction, a new law in the Name of the God that had sent Him. At first I was apprehensive that His design was to stir up the people against the Romans, but my fears were soon dispelled. Jesus of Nazareth spoke rather as a friend of the Romans than of the Jews. One day I observed in the midst of a group of people a young man who was leaning against a tree, calmly addressing the multitude. I was told it was Jesus. This I could easily have suspected so great was the difference between Him and those who were listening to Him. His golden colored hair and beard gave to his appearance a celestial aspect. He appeared to be about 30 years of age. Never have I seen a sweeter or more serene countenance. What a contrast between Him and His bearers with their black beards and tawny complexions! Unwilling to interrupt Him by my presence, I continued my walk but signified to my secretary to join the group and listen. Later, my secretary reported that never had he seen in the works of all the philosophers anything that compared to the teachings of Jesus. He told me that Jesus was neither seditious nor rebellious, so we extended to Him our protection. He was at liberty to act, to speak, to assemble and to address the people. This unlimited freedom provoked the Jews-not the poor but the rich and powerful.

Later, I wrote to Jesus requesting an interview with Him at the Praetorium. He came. When the Nazarene made His appearance I was having my morning walk and as I faced Him my feet seemed fastened with an iron hand to the marble pavement and I trembled in every limb as a guilty culprit, though He was calm. For some time I stood admiring this extraordinary man. There was nothing in Him that was repelling, nor in His character, yet I felt awed in His presence. I told Him that there was a magnetic simplicity about Him and His personality that elevated Him far above the philosophers and teachers of His day. (Our question is, then … why did Pilate sentence this “man of sorrows Jesus,” whom Isaiah (53) says would be one not pleasing to look upon, to be scourged and put to death, if Pilate was so taken with him and already knew Jesus when he was brought before Pilate? Based on this letter, would Pilate have mocked Jesus as he did? This letter allegedly written by Pilate to Tiberius Caesar is very apparently a forgery and a hoax … but to what end — to obscure Jesus’ physical appearance? Ed.)

THE ARCHKO VOLUME
An additional physical description of Jesus can be found in “The Archko Volume” which contains official first century court documents. This information substantiates that He descended from ethnic lines having blue eyes and golden hair.  A part of “Gamaliel’s Interview” describes Jesus’ appearance:

“I asked him to describe this person to me, so that I might know him if I should meet him. He said: ‘If you ever meet him you will know him. While he is nothing but a man, there is something about him that distinguishes him from every other man. He is the picture of his mother, only he has not her smooth, round face. His hair is a little more golden than hers, though it is as much from sunburn as anything else. He is tall, and his shoulders are a little drooped; his visage is thin and of a swarthy complexion, though this is from exposure. (Hmm. Ed.) His eyes are large and a soft blue, and rather dull and heavy….’ This Jew is convinced that he is the Messiah of the world. This was the same person that was born of the virgin in Bethlehem some twenty-six years before.”

The Archko Volume was translated by Drs. McIntosh and Twyman of the Antiquarian Lodge, Genoa, Italy, from manuscripts in Constantinople and the records of the Senatorial Docket taken from the Vatican of Rome (1896) 92-93.  The letter written on a papyrus scroll dated to about 5 B.C., with an accuracy of +- 50 years.

A DESCRIPTION OF JESUS BY PUBLIUS LENTRELUS

The following description of Jesus Christ was written by Publius Lentrelus, (spelling may not be correct as writing was indistinct) a resident of Judea in the reign of Tiberius Caesar, to the monarch in Rome. It first appeared in the writings of Saint Anselm of Canterbury in the eleventh century:

“There lives at this time in Judea a man of singular virtue whose name is Jesus Christ, whom the barbarians esteem as a prophet, but his followers love and adore him as the offspring of the immortal God.

“He calls back the dead from the graves and heals all sorts of diseases with a word, or touch. Note: The Shabbath, Talmud and Yebamoth writings by the Chief Priests, Pharisees, Sanhedrin, Seduces and Scribes from the times of Jesus (Annas, Caiphas, Cornelius, Eleazar, Eli, Felix, Gamaliel, Hananiah, Helkai, Hillel, Ishmael, Joazar, Johanan, John, Joseph, Nahum, Nicodemus, Shammai, Sadoc, Simon, Triphon and Uriah). In the discussion over the so-called New World Order and how best to define it, the roles of Israel, the Jews and Zionism (not to mention Jesus as being the originator of dynastic bloodlines in Europe) frequently come up. We’d like to comment generally about this strange topic which won’t go away online, though we are not Jewish. However, we have studied the Bible, both the Hebrew scriptures (Tanakh) as well as the New Testament, being ourselves Christians. We have worshiped with Jewish people in a temple setting. We have studied Hebrew. We have contemplated converting to Judaism without renouncing our belief in Jesus as the Messiah. However, we have not read in any intensive way the Talmud and other rabbinic materials which are valued by some Jewish people. All we know about Zionism or care to know is that “Zion” is a word used by the prophets to designate the Land of Israel and Jerusalem. We recognize that the word Zionism means different things to different people: for instance, there are very orthodox, Zionist Jews who view non-Jews as anathema or untouchables; and there are people who consider themselves Christian Zionists, which may be a gross contradiction in terms for many Jews who consider themselves Zionists, even as it is a term which offends some Christians. Our view is that anybody has a right to call himself anything he or she wishes and live in peace.

As for us, with all the crazy things we digest online to better inform (or distract) you as a reader of this drivel, being fascinated by human madness, individual and collective, we don’t know what the hell to think. So buy your ticket and take your chances. 

The question has frequently come up in discussions about the New World Order or a one-world government which addresses the degree to which Zionist Jews are at the heart of such an elitist effort, which presumably will consolidate all of the nations of the world under one central governing body. There are some people who believe that Zionist Jews presently control the media and the entertainment industry and the financial centers of the world commerce. All of these things may be true, wholly or in part. Who knows (or may care)? But our view is that if this is the place that Zionists presently occupy, it is a temporary arrangement which won’t last. Whatever the present or future status of world governance may be, whether elite Jews or non-Jews are in control or will be, we believe that any and all governments on earth will give way to a messianic kingdom for believers as it is described in the prophets, Psalms and Daniel, by Jesus, and by John, the writer of the book of Revelation. Jesus wins. Yea!

We define a believer as someone who subscribes to the view — now or later — that the God of Israel has a plan of redemption and restoration for the people of Israel and the world, the living and the dead, which will include a final resurrection with rewards to follow. (What do you really care?)

But our purpose for writing this piece is not to argue the rightness of our personal beliefs which no doubt contrast with those of a lot of people, but to offer clarification and a response to questions which have been raised by some commentators online about presumed occult foundations of Israel and therefore her occult destiny. We define the word “occultism” as the study of divination, sorcery and communicating with spirits of the dead for the purpose of practicing these things to gain advantages — which are opposed by God as stipulated by the Mosaic Law as it is presented in the Torah, specifically in Deuteronomy and Leviticus. We believe that Christians as well as Jews are bound by relevant laws or commandments in the Torah which are reasonably applied in our present society. Jesus lived and encouraged others to live in accordance with the covenant laws expressed relevantly in the Torah, adding that to love one’s neighbor as oneself, freely forgiving others who have wronged us, was to love and please God. What has prompted us to write this piece are a series of questions which were recently put to a commentator, researcher and writer who is fairly well known online and very prolific as pertains to the so-called New World Order and the global and/or occult elite as they may operate to control the world behind the scenes. His views are “illuminating” but extreme to a fault in many cases, it seems to us. So we take all of his views with a grain of salt. However, we do not doubt that there are wealthy and powerful elitists with global objectives; nor do we doubt that there are subhuman beings, perhaps inhabited by demonic spirits (perhaps in all cases), which possess high levels of intelligence. We believe these beings will all ultimately be destroyed by God — at least that is our hope.

The questions put to Wes Penre by a man who identifies himself as MAD and his answers are as follows. Our running commentary is provided in italics.

MAD: I am of the belief as well that the war we are fighting, is, and must be won, is one of a spiritual nature. So many people are unaware of their own spiritual potentials and capabilities, let alone that they are engaged in a metaphysical battle for their very souls, and the future of the planet. Another subject of which we have many agreements, and that you touched upon in your comments regarding Scientology, is the near total control of not only the mass media and corporate run news-stations, but over Hollywood and the entertainment industry as well. In particular, you’ve done a lot of extremely interesting research into the psyops (propaganda) tactics and “satanic” symbolism behind rock ‘n’ roll.

Rap and hip-hop are starting to come under this same scrutiny as well, as more and more entertainers become involved with Freemasonry and incorporate “Illuminati” style subject matter in their lyrics and artwork. I don’t know if I believe that all of these people are CIA mind-control slaves, but I wouldn’t debate the fact that many of them are controlled assets of the military-industrial-complex, and social engineering institutions such as Tavistock.

Most of these entertainers are probably unaware of the plot, and just perform the music they are given, and take the roles their agents sign them up for, not realizing that they are being used for a major corporate takeover connected to the agendas of the government and military.

I also wouldn’t question the fact that some of these well known entertainers actually ARE involved in MK-ULTRA or PROJECT MONARCH like programming, beginning at a very early age and perhaps running through multiple generations of celebrity families in Hollywood. Could you go into a little detail on this subject, and how deep do you think the rabbit hole goes regarding the entertainment industry and Hollywood propaganda techniques?

I noticed early on that the one part of the Illuminati Agenda that people have the hardest time believing is that the music industry is manipulated and controlled by the Illuminati. Before I go into details, I just want to throw out some food for thought: If we agree that this world is to a great extent controlled by the Brotherhood (which these days is quite easy to prove), why on Earth would it be so hard to realize that the music industry and Hollywood are controlled, too? After all, if I were a top Illuminist, one of the first places I would look into and try to control and manipulate would be the music and film industries. Why? Because from there I can reach the whole world at once with my propaganda! Whatever your message is, if you own the media, the music industry and the film industry, you have the PERFECT propaganda machine! Don’t think for a second that the Illuminati didn’t think about that. They are not that stupid. Even L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology, had the same idea. If Scientology could recruit enough celebrities, the church would BOOM. So he and his successors did exactly that, and the churched BOOMED!

This subject is so hot that many researchers don’t even want to touch it, it seems like. Not even the well known researchers, such as David Icke and Alex Jones have touched the subject of rock music and mind-control in Hollywood. Very strange, I must say, because it is such an important part of the Illuminati agenda. Perhaps, they don’t want to look in that direction because they like the music and therefore have a blind spot to the subject. I don’t know. I have tried to alert them on this problem, and although I usually get communication back, I never got any replies to my emails about rock music.

Anyway, here is the thing, and here is the myth: Rock ‘n’ roll is rebellious and a weapon against corruption and greed; with rock ’n’ roll we can change the world. Now, here is the reality: Rock music was an Illuminati experiment from the beginning to the end, to see how easy it would be to manipulate, degrade and drug down the masses. Illuminati puppets like the CIA sponsored Aldous Huxley, Timothy Leary and others started promoting LSD, while other government plants, including the rock stars themselves, promoted other kinds of drugs as well. From there we had the hippie movement. All those young, good-hearted people let their hair grow, thinking they could change the world with drugs, peace demonstrations and rock/pop music. Instead, people became more and more introverted and apathetic as time went on. Many got stuck in drugs and quite a few died from it — including the rock stars themselves.

(Of what ultimate benefit to a commerce-driven elite is a world not of productive young people and adults, which oils the world economy, but of drugged-out, apathetic people? People took and take drugs because they wish to escape from the boredom of the everyday life these two men say the elitists somehow control. Dr. John Coleman wrote an excellent book called “The Committee of 300”, about the Tavistock Center and how they, within that facility and behind locked doors, did advanced mind control experiments on people. According to Coleman and other researchers as well, it was here the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were “created.” (Reading the histories of both bands and their slow and gradual seminal growth, with a lot of hard knocks and misses, not hits, along the way refutes this ridiculous theory. — rcg) The Beatles were presented as the “good guys” (who turned rebellious and bad? — rcg) and the Stones were the “bad guys,” who took drugs and were generally degraded (Beatles, of course, took drugs too, but it was done behind the scenes, at least at first). This is typical Illuminati agenda: to create two sides of the same coin to have a game going. Which group do you like, the Beatles or the Stones? You almost had to choose sides back in the 1960’s. John Lennon, supposedly, in a late interview, actually admitted to that the Beatles were a CIA experiment, although I haven’t been able to verify if this is a true or just disinformation. (Then why bring it up? What Lennon said was that if the government created LSD to enslave people, it had the opposite effect of setting people “free,” including himself, who refused to be bound, personally or creatively — a case in point being the song “Revolution,” which poked fun at the establishment and social engineers. — rcg)

One thing people are not aware of is that the back beat and the rhythm in rock music have very occult origins and go back to the Mystery Schools of old Babylon. But even if we stay within the 20th Century, we find that rock music is something that was born out of the occult traditions. Modern rock music can be traced back to the teachings of the 20th Century occultist, illuminist and ‘Satanist’ Aleister Crowley (1875-1947). This is why so many rock stars are into Crowley’s stuff. The Beatles were into him, and so are/were the Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Sting, Jim Morrison, David Bowie, Elton John, Led Zeppelin and many, many more. Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, by the way, is probably the most fanatic Crowley disciple in the music industry, ever. He once had the 2nd largest Crowley collection of books and occult material in the world, and even bought Crowley’s old residence near Loch ness in Scotland. Some people say Crowley was not an Illuminist, but that is not true. He was a 99th degree of the Order of Memphis and Misraïm, which actually is the REAL Illuminati Order, where a few selected people go after have completed the 33 degrees of Freemasonry. I want to emphasize that before people make their own conclusions about what I have to say about rock music, it is important that they at least skim through most of the articles I have posted on the subject. Too many people read a headline and a paragraph or two, then they email me and say I am a piece of shit for trying to have them stop listening to their favorite music, and that I am a Christian fanatic. That “accusation” only proves they haven’t read much, because I am not even Christian, which I make pretty clear. Now, I am NOT trying to have people stop listening to their favorite music at all – I want to make sure everybody understands that. Personally, I still listen to many of my favorite bands, although I know what is going on behind the scenes. However, we all NEED to know what this is all about, otherwise we will not understand the whole picture, and what is affecting us subconsciously. And if we don’t understand this vital subject, we will never be free from their manipulation. Therefore I say, go ahead and listen to whatever you want as long as you know what’s behind it. When you know the truth, you are unlikely to be manipulated – at least that’s my theory. And you will listen to the music with totally new ears – I do! It’s still often great music.

Most people have heard the phrase: “I sold my soul for rock ‘n’ roll”. With other words, the artist supposedly sold his/her soul to Satan in exchange for glory and fame, riches, drugs, rock and roll and an abundance of sex. We say: “OK, but that’s just a myth and a good story”. But is it really? Why don’t we ask the artists themselves? Many of them have actually come out and confessed that this is actually what they have been doing, and they are serious about it! Take Bob Dylan as an example. He was interviewed by late Ed Bradley on “60 Minutes” just recently. This interview was posted on video-google until a few weeks ago, when it was taken down for unknown reasons. In this very interesting interview, Bradley asked Dylan how he could write such incredible songs in the 60’s, and Dylan said he had no idea (Dylan was being coy and humble. Often his lyrics were political and anti-establishment, not at all flattering of those who might have programmed him — rcg) He was convinced he didn’t write them. They were “written for him” by “someone else,” and he did not mean another composer, but something from the spiritual world (a muse, which is just a way of describing one’s conscious imagination? Of course he would take credit if forced to. He certainly wouldn’t give businessmen credit for anything he did: he loathed them — rcg) He started quoting the lyrics from his masterpiece: “It’s alright ma, I’m only bleeding.” He said something to the effect: “You just don’t write lyrics like that. They were magically written.” (The mind is a mysterious thing, given us by God, imbued with free will, which defies even our abilities to understand it. Then he goes on and accidentally mentions that he sold his soul to the devil a long time ago (A euphemism for the industry artists much operate in. Dylan is a Christian. In the same interview he gave credit to “his Captain,” a reference to Jesus. — rcg) When he realizes that his tongue had slipped, he found himself and stopped in the middle of a sentence. Bradley did not let the mistake on Dylan’s part pass unnoticed, though, and elaborated on it. Dylan is just one in a crowd of artists that have messed with the occult and made a bargain with the demonic realms and been possessed by entities who are actually helping them write their songs. He said something to the effect that writing an album like “Yellow Brick Road” in the mid 70’s was out of his league. He has no idea how that album came about. My research has led me to believe that most (if not all) of the super artists that have really been trend makers, are mind controlled slaves, created by the Illuminati to complete a certain task, and often enough, their managers are their handlers and controllers. These artists are, like I said, the trend makers, whom all the rest follow.

You have to have a certain attitude to make it in the music industry, and you have to be willing to be manipulated and controlled. Young artists think they can be famous by doing ‘their thing’, and the record companies will adjust to that. That only occurs if the artist happens to have the exact approach that the music industry is looking for at the moment. If not, THEY will decide how the artist should perform his/her stuff. If you don’t conform – no deal (all big labels are owned by the Illuminati, by the way – easy to verify).

For those who doubt the satanic, occult overtones in rock/pop music, I would strongly recommend the book: “Lucifer Rising” by Gavin Badderley, who happens to be the head of Church of Satan in Great Britain. His book exposes the satanic rock industry, and you would be surprised how many rock stars are members of Church of Satan! So what is the purpose with the occult rock music? The purpose is to reach the minds of our youth. Of course, death metal for example is openly satanic, and so is Marilyn Manson, both in their lyrics and music, but this is not often the case with the rest of the rock/pop music genre. Instead, the occult/satanic messages are hidden in the lyrics or in backward messages, also called “back-masking.”

Here is another important thing: For those who don’t know what a “riff” is in rock music, I’ll try to explain it here in a few words. A riff is a beat or a sequence or a pattern, played in a certain order over and over again as a part of the background rhythm; it sometimes has the form of a melody itself. We have a typical example of a riff in “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones (same pattern repeated over and over by Keith Richard’s electric guitar). These riffs can be pretty seductive and put us in a light trance. This, plus the back beat, is what is so attractive and great about rock music, and no matter if people know what a riff or a back beat is or not, they just feel great without knowing why. Nothing’s wrong with that, as long as it stops there. However, if you add occult or satanic messages upon that, when the listener is in a state of light trance, the lyrics go right into your subconscious mind and may affect your way of thinking, without you even noticing it. So, to simplify it, the purpose of rock music is to have our youth interested in the occult, degrade them and have them rebel against their parents to destroy the family unit (a major goal for them), create violence and apathy and to be brought down to a certain level of consciousness, where they are easily manipulated. They are trying to create a generation that can easily accept the New World Order as something good.

Most teenagers these days don’t listen to the lyrics, and therefore they say the lyrics won’t affect them. Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, if you DONT listen to the lyrics, you are more prone to be negatively affected by hidden messages than if you listen to and analyze the lyrics. What you don’t consciously absorb goes directly into your subconscious mind and will affect you unconsciously.

The question is: did these artists ACTUALLY make a pact with the Devil, or what is really going on here? Personally, I think it all comes down to mind control. I know for sure many of our greatest and most popular artists have multiple personalities, most certainly made such through trauma based mind control. I am corresponding with, and have corresponded with, a whole lot of mind controlled slaves in general, who have escaped, or were in the process of escaping, from the Illuminati. They have, independently from each other, pointed out the same artists as being multiples. How do they know? Well, if anybody would know, it would be them. They recognize things in others that we don’t necessarily notice.

According to those people, Bob Dylan is definitely a multiple, so are/were Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Britney Spears, Joan Baez, Curt Cobain, Elton John, Elvis Presley and many more. These artists have been specifically pointed out, both by the mind controlled slaves and different researchers, among them Fritz Springmeier, he himself a multiple.

However, I am not saying that all artists are mind controlled or directly part of the agenda; only the ones who are the real trend makers and super artists. These are heavily promoted by the industry and the media. The rest, the majority, just jump on the bandwagon, making a similar kind of music that the record industry is looking for at the moment, and they go through their careers quite ignorant of what is happening on a higher level. By the way, another important thing: the whole country music industry is nothing but a huge drug smuggling front for the Brotherhood. And most of the artists in Memphis are drug smugglers and mind controlled slaves, programmers or handlers. Don’t believe me? Again, read Springmeier’s books, plus TranceFormation of America, by Cathy O’Brien (former mind control slave) and Mark Phillips. After having read the latter, there can be little doubt in anyone’s mind that this is the truth. Also, there are videos on video.google and YouTube, where you can watch Cathy O’Brien and Mark Phillips in action, trying to find justice. It is very moving and very, very real.

One last thing I want to add: it’s not just rock music. We have the same agenda going on here, regardless if it’s punk, rap, rave, hip-hop, and grunge or whatever. No difference, same thing.

MAD: It reminds me of the old legend of Robert Johnson (1911-1938) selling his soul to the Devil at the Crossroads so he could play the blues. Arguably the first musician of the rhythm and blues era to die at twenty seven, he was a huge influence on groups like Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Dylan, and The Rolling Stones. Moving into a related subject, how do you see the topic of Zionism as fitting into the structure of the media, Hollywood, and the entertainment industry?

WES: Many people think that Zionism is the religion of the Jews. Nothing could be more wrong. Zionism is not a religion, first of all, but a political movement, and has nothing to do with the ordinary Jew. In fact, most Jews oppose Zionism as being evil and want to have nothing to do with it.

One thing I had a hard time grasping was why Christians are whole-heartedly supporting Israel, the Zionist state, although they know about the New World Order, and that Israel was founded by the Illuminati to create a Zionist state for their own purposes. [Interestingly enough, as a side line, the word Israel can be split up into three words: Is-Ra-El, where Is stands for Isis, the occult goddess, Ra for Ra, the Sun God, worshipped by the Illuminati, and El for Saturn, which is no one less but Satan himself. Quite something].

I asked quite a few Christians about this contradiction, but I never got a straight answer, until I asked one particular Christian, whom I did some research with in the past. He said that “God is working in mysterious ways, and he is probably using his enemies to build God’s chosen Country”. He didn’t sound too sure about it, like if he’d been wondering about this himself, but at least I now understood how Christians, who know about the Agenda, may think about Israel and why they support it.

Some say the Zionists are the ones behind the New World Order, but I don’t agree. Yes, they are a big and important part of the whole Illuminati network, and many Illuminists are also Zionists, but to say that Illuminism is equivalent to Zionism is simply not correct. It is very interesting, though, to read from The Talmud. It is extremely anti-Semitic in the sense that it looks down on everyone who is not a Zionist. It’s shocking to read it. As an example, it says a Jew can lie as much as he wants to non-Jews, and killing a non-Jew is not a crime. There are worse things than that even, mentioned in this evil book.

President Barack Obama may not be the Antichrist but reportedly he is poised to do something momentous which may reveal him to be grossly ignorant of Christian eschatology and the biblical warnings about the formation of a one-world government. A former adviser to ex-British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is the bearer of the news that will no doubt be troubling to a majority of Americans: the U.S. president intends to sign a U.N.-backed “climate debt” treaty in December in Copenhagen which will bring the so-called New World Order one step closer to reality, ceding, some pundits say, U.S. sovereignty to a global entity.

“I read the treaty,” Lord Christopher Monckton told members of a free-market institute event held recently in St. Paul, Minnesota. “And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created.” Lord Monckton explained that the global climate-related treaty will transfer wealth “from the countries of the West to third-world countries,” a transfer of wealth which he said would be governed and enforced by a world body.

“So, thank you, America,” Lord Monckton said in his keynote address. “You were the beacon of freedom to the world. It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free. But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy, and your humanity away forever. And neither you nor any subsequent government you may elect will have any power whatsoever to take it back.”

He continued, “I’ve seen this stuff about (world) government and climate debt and enforcement. They are going to do this whether you like it or not.”

In a question-and-answer session following his address the former high-ranking British adviser suggested to his audience that Obama’s “potential illegitimacy as president” might be an option open to Americans opposed to the treaty. However, he reiterated, “Once he’s signed it and ratified it, and your Senate ratifies it, you’re bound by it.”

Lord Monckton said that the White House is concerned that it might not have the 67 votes in the Senate — a two-thirds majority — necessary to ratify the treaty, which he said would be signed at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

The international agreement, which European and other world leaders are expected to “rubber stamp, will have three “basic pillars,” Lord Monckton said. “The scheme” for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will feature “a facilitative mechanism, a financial mechanism, and the basic organization” which will allow for enforcement by a global executive board responsible for the management of the new funds and related “facilitative processes and bodies.” This portion of the treaty, he said, bears the heading “World Government.”

MEXICO CITY –- Apolinario Chile Pixtun is tired of being bombarded with frantic questions about the Mayan calendar supposedly “running out” on Dec. 21, 2012. After all, it’s not the end of the world. Or is it?

At Cornell University, Ann Martin, who runs the “Curious? Ask an Astronomer” Web site, says people are scared.

“It’s too bad that we’re getting e-mails from fourth-graders who are saying that they’re too young to die,” Martin said. “We had a mother of two young children who was afraid she wouldn’t live to see them grow up.”

Chile Pixtun, a Guatemalan, says the doomsday theories spring from Western, not Mayan ideas.

A significant time period for the Mayas does end on the date, and enthusiasts have found a series of astronomical alignments they say coincide in 2012, including one that happens roughly only once every 25,800 years.

But most archaeologists, astronomers and Maya say the only thing likely to hit Earth is a meteor shower of New Age philosophy, pop astronomy, Internet doomsday rumors and TV specials such as one on the History Channel which mixes “predictions” from Nostradamus and the Mayas and asks: “Is 2012 the year the cosmic clock finally winds down to zero days, zero hope?”

It may sound all too much like other doomsday scenarios of recent decades — the 1987 Harmonic Convergence, the Jupiter Effect or “Planet X.” But this one has some grains of archaeological basis.

One of them is Monument Six.

Found at an obscure ruin in southern Mexico during highway construction in the 1960s, the stone tablet almost didn’t survive; the site was largely paved over and parts of the tablet were looted.

It’s unique in that the remaining parts contain the equivalent of the date 2012. The inscription describes something that is supposed to occur in 2012 involving Bolon Yokte, a mysterious Mayan god associated with both war and creation.

However — shades of Indiana Jones — erosion and a crack in the stone make the end of the passage almost illegible.

Archaeologist Guillermo Bernal of Mexico’s National Autonomous University interprets the last eroded glyphs as maybe saying, “He will descend from the sky.”

Spooky, perhaps, but Bernal notes there are other inscriptions at Mayan sites for dates far beyond 2012 — including one that roughly translates into the year 4772.

And anyway, Mayas in the drought-stricken Yucatan peninsula have bigger worries than 2012.

“If I went to some Mayan-speaking communities and asked people what is going to happen in 2012, they wouldn’t have any idea,” said Jose Huchim, a Yucatan Mayan archaeologist. “That the world is going to end? They wouldn’t believe you. We have real concerns these days, like rain.”

The Mayan civilization, which reached its height from 300 A.D. to 900 A.D., had a talent for astronomy

Its Long Count calendar begins in 3,114 B.C., marking time in roughly 394-year periods known as Baktuns. Thirteen was a significant, sacred number for the Mayas, and the 13th Baktun ends around Dec. 21, 2012.

“It’s a special anniversary of creation,” said David Stuart, a specialist in Mayan epigraphy at the University of Texas at Austin. “The Maya never said the world is going to end, they never said anything bad would happen necessarily, they’re just recording this future anniversary on Monument Six.”

Bernal suggests that apocalypse is “a very Western, Christian” concept projected onto the Maya, perhaps because Western myths are “exhausted.”

If it were all mythology, perhaps it could be written off.

But some say the Maya knew another secret: the Earth’s axis wobbles, slightly changing the alignment of the stars every year. Once every 25,800 years, the sun lines up with the center of our Milky Way galaxy on a winter solstice, the sun’s lowest point in the horizon.

That will happen on Dec. 21, 2012, when the sun appears to rise in the same spot where the bright center of galaxy sets.

Another spooky coincidence?

“The question I would ask these guys is, so what?” says Phil Plait, an astronomer who runs the “Bad Astronomy” blog. He says the alignment doesn’t fall precisely in 2012, and distant stars exert no force that could harm Earth.

“They’re really super-duper trying to find anything astronomical they can to fit that date of 2012,” Plait said.

But author John Major Jenkins says his two-decade study of Mayan ruins indicate the Maya were aware of the alignment and attached great importance to it.

“If we want to honor and respect how the Maya think about this, then we would say that the Maya viewed 2012, as all cycle endings, as a time of transformation and renewal,” said Jenkins.

As the Internet gained popularity in the 1990s, so did word of the “fateful” date, and some began worrying about 2012 disasters the Mayas never dreamed of.

Author Lawrence Joseph says a peak in explosive storms on the surface of the sun could knock out North America’s power grid for years, triggering food shortages, water scarcity — a collapse of civilization. Solar peaks occur about every 11 years, but Joseph says there’s evidence the 2012 peak could be “a lulu.”

While pressing governments to install protection for power grids, Joseph counsels readers not to “use 2012 as an excuse to not live in a healthy, responsible fashion. I mean, don’t let the credit cards go up.”

Another History Channel program titled “Decoding the Past: Doomsday 2012: End of Days” says a galactic alignment or magnetic disturbances could somehow trigger a “pole shift.”

“The entire mantle of the earth would shift in a matter of days, perhaps hours, changing the position of the north and south poles, causing worldwide disaster,” a narrator proclaims. “Earthquakes would rock every continent, massive tsunamis would inundate coastal cities. It would be the ultimate planetary catastrophe.”

The idea apparently originates with a 19th century Frenchman, Charles Etienne Brasseur de Bourbourg, a priest-turned-archaeologist who got it from his study of ancient Mayan and Aztec texts.

Scientists say that, at best, the poles might change location by one degree over a million years, with no sign that it would start in 2012.

While long discredited, Brasseur de Bourbourg proves one thing: Westerners have been trying for more than a century to pin doomsday scenarios on the Maya. And while fascinated by ancient lore, advocates seldom examine more recent experiences with apocalypse predictions.

“No one who’s writing in now seems to remember that the last time we thought the world was going to end, it didn’t,” says Martin, the astronomy webmaster. “There doesn’t seem to be a lot of memory that things were fine the last time around.”
